Big TV, poor reception, small tv, great reception......
Discussion
Wondering if someone can help? We've BT broadband coming into the house via telephone line - we get about 9 meg (we're in pembrokeshire, 1930's....).
Once it's into the house, in the study, we've got the BT home hug 4 (or 5) that then sends wireless signal, via the plugs, to the big tv in the lounge (about 20 feet from the hub box in distance, through the study wall, the hall then the lounge wall but is actually connected via the plugs as I say. It's also connected to the aerial in the wall (that's then connected to the aerial in the roof)
The little TV (in the kitchen) isn't connected to home hub, doesn't use the wireless or anything like that and is simply plugged into the aerial in the wall (connected to the roof aswell).
We use the BT home screen/tv guide to watch the normal tv (and then connect to iplayer and netflix) in the lounge on the TV but obviously can't use that in the kitchen (but use the samsung tv to look up what's on etc and choose what to watch).
Up until 2 years ago things were fine but then the cabinet was upgraded (we were getting 0.75meg or something truly comical til then from the old bt cabinet). But even with the improved signal we're still having these glitching issues.
I've had the tv fella out to check the aerial is positioned correctly, and I'm just wondering if buying some actual lead to connect the hub to the tv (quite a big job to route it discretely from the study to the lounge) might stop this issue.
I've retuned the bt bit at the TV too recently - no joy (well, in fact the first time I did it it failed to find the same amount of stations as we'd previously had!).
It works on channel 4 and alot of the other channels by the way - it's just on bbc1, 2 and itv channels we have an issue.
Just to add - I've just run a speed test and I'm apparently getting 28meg download and 18meg upload. Surely that's enough that the TV shouldn't glitch?
Wondering if anyone's got some suggestions?

It's only the extra channels that use the internet. BBC1 is just the usual Freeview through the aerial. Does the lounge TV also have a tuner, can you get BBC1 reliably on the TVs tuner from the same aerial connection?
I'd suggest it's the aerial connection that may be at fault here.

I am confused as to whether you are talking about your 'catchup/streaming' service or your Freeveiw/TV Aerail service.
From the majority of your discription you are talking about freeveiw from your tv aerial and to me it sound like you have to much signal.
The effects are very similar to not enough signal, but as you can tune to the weaker channels and multiplexes (Ch4 etc) but not the usual stronger ones (BBC) then this would be my first port of call.
Is the tv signal boosted and amplified anywhere in the house? If so you could try turning that off, or by-passing it and just passing the signal to from aerial to living room tv.
The reasion the older, smaller tv is working fine is that the older the tv the less sensitive the tuner is.
