I'm sure this has been covered before but I couldn't find a thread on it.

The hood on my 987 has all of a sudden decided to stop working fully. The deck cover still works and you can see that the tip of the hood wants to move, but at the moment it doesn't. Does anybody have any pointers as to where to start looking?

Looks like nobody wants to help.
I would open the rear panel half way, then if you stand by the side of the car, between the wheel and the doors.
If you look down u will see the roof operating rods, with White plastic piece on the end,I would check if they have snapped.

Many thanks for that Chris, I will take a look at them - when it stops raining!

Looks like here was the culprit, broken bits of white plastic.

you can get replacements off ebay and screw them on - bit fiddly but not too hard to do.

you need to open the hood about 3/4 - so with someone operating the open button try pushing it back by hand - if it moves relatively easily then you're good - if it's sticking - don't push it as you might tear or break something more significant.

if it opens with an easy push - then fish out the broken bits and screw on the new ones then push the ball joint back onto the ball (that takes quite a push)

heres the link to some on ebay
