Windscreen washer issues

I recently chopped in my Tuscan S for a T350C and am very happy so far with the change barring a few teething troubles but that''s normal!

One thing I hated was the nasty plastic washer bottle that on this car was located on a bracket right in front of the oil tank so was clearly visible through the bonnet vent gap.

I could see from searching that there was a run of alloy washer tanks made a while back but couldn't find one to purchase. I found an oblong one on Ebay and fitted it with a few adaptions. I made a new bracket to attach it to the original mounting bracket and attached the pump to the base of the tank horizontally and all seemed to have gone well well.

When I drove the car after fitting the new tank I noticed that after a while water started to seep out of both of the washer jets that are attached to the wiper arms (not the original TVR items). I have since replaced both of the one-way valves and it is still allowing water to seep through.

Can anyone advise as to why this is happening? Is it that the pump was originally vertical and is now horizontal or possibly that a vacuum is building up in the new tank which is enough to force the water up the tubes and through the one way valves? Do I need to drill a hole in the cap of the new tank to relieve pressure?

Any advice welcome as it's very irritating having to keep swishing the wipers to clear the screen. Pictures of the new car and the new tank attached.

Wouldn't a vacuum suck it back?

One way valves must stop drain back to tank, can't stop fluid flowing to the jets?

Have you tried it with the cap removed?

Radiator air flow warming the water/air in the tank. Which expands which is forcing it out the waster jets .

I'd drill a little hole in cap on the tank should sort your issue

Thanks for the quick responses guys. It now makes sense that it is pressure rather than a vacuum and it does only happen when the car is up to full running temps so I'll drill the hole and see how it goes.

It will just need to be a tiny little hole - as small as you can get it to allow the pressure out. You don't want to be losing screen wash out the top when enthusiastically navigating roundabouts

i have the same problem but only when i press the warp lever hard
any ideas how to stop this (apart from going slower)

Is it that you are getting fluid coming out of the wiper washer jets under hard acceleration? If so, assuming you have no vacuum issue like ths thread, then take a look at this thread and the Racetech washers - I also have these and they stop the problem so can recommend :-
