After something with a reasonable boot and be able to get rods in approx 7.5 ft .
I’m struggling to find anything around 12 plate budget up to £7000 with good reviews and a bit of performance?

SEAT Leon cupra or FR, you can also get Skoda Octavia Vrs in budget. Seen a couple of mini countryman Cooper S, but they're a bit marmite. Quite a lot of Alfa Guilietta but a used Alfa is always a risk!

Don't get a focus 1.6t 180bhp. I've driven one and the engine is gutless. Feels like it's got half that power.

A bit bigger but there are a couple of Mondeo 2.0 ecoboost at that price. Auto only though

A Focus is the obvious answer...

Otherwise a Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo estate? A few people raving about these in the 'cars you would never sell' thread.

Mini Cooper Clubman? Toyota Avensis?

Yeah considering from what I see local it’s small engines or 1.6 tops wanting around 150 bhp

Surly if it has 180bhp that should have the power

Mazda 3 2.0 (150 BHP) ?

Or a Mazda 6 if your tall friends (all called Rod, strangely) don't fit ?

Both are a good steer but won't win at BHP top trumps.
