Shofting issues in a 200e silverado MAF or Tranny isues

So, im new to this but my 2003 chevy silverado 4x4 z71automatic is having some shifting issues and it bogs down when i accelerate. I hit the gas and the rpms go up to red line but i dont get any more speed. It likes to hover around 30mph . Now ive done some research on the old youtube and google and ive read that it could be everything from a bad MAF sensor to faulty shift selenoids to a bad clutch pack to clogfed cat.
My pops is a mechanic but he has never run into an issue like this and i wad wondering if anyone on here has. If so let me know. I just bought the truck 3 months ago and im worried i might have bought a lemon.
