This was on a church noticeboard in Norfolk somewhere.

My iPad tells me it was in Wells-Next-the-Sea. On “The Buttlands”, which I’d never noticed until now.

It's amazing how many people say "we never knew".
People rarely ever show up at parish/town council meetings unless it's to object to something that "they think affects them".

I'm clearing my late mother's house. Jeez she had so much stuff. Today I found a letter from the 1970s addressed to my parents from the the Chairman of the Residents Association saying my friends and I had been using the estate as a race track, he didnt want to involve the police but he would like us to stop. My dad did ask me to encourage my mates to take our cars somewhere else but didn't mention the letter. I've never seen it before.

The only downside was that you lived in Monaco! :-)

The neighbours! Full of self-importance the lot of them.

We have a parish notice notice board at the end of our close, read it on a regular basis.

Very civilised around our parts we are.

The one I saw being read was in the upper reaches of Salcombe. Civilised round there too. It's nice to know there are pockets of Olde Englande not panicking and carrying on.

I've seen a stained glass window with a very similar image on it. I'm still not sure if it's deliberate or they just didn't realise how appropriate it was.

Came across it again.

Only one neighbour came out to stand disapprovingly at the end of his drive and that was the author of the letter. I think my dad had the measure of him.

Just round the corner from me!

I think the fact he classed Sandhurst as Surrey says a lot - unless the boundaries have changed since then.

The letter slightly predated post codes. Camberley was Sandhurst's 'post town' and, as Camberley was in Surrey, our address was Beech Ride, Sandhurst, Camberley, Surrey.

It sounds like the Dark Ages. The guvnor of a little car body shop in Yateley was a character called 'Marvellous' Mac. A post card pinned to his wall from a happy family whose car he had ready in time for their European driving holiday was addressed to Marvellous, Camberley, England.

It's the incorrect apostrophe that someone has drawn on with a pen that does it for me!
