Well I never - you learn something every day.

While figuring out the cable route for a dash cam install I found a 12v cigarette lighter socket perfectly positioned in the passenger footwell in my F36 440.

Made the install just that little bit easier and came as a pleasant surprise.

Made my day. Sad but true!

It’s great and the power for it cuts out 10 minutes after the ignition is off

Same for the Porsche Cayenne. In fact, some have 2.

Granted, not that useful info in the BMW section but might be to someone.

Have a look at any of the numerous BMW VIN decoders - you put your last 7 digits in, and it tells you what options (or indeed standard spec) your car had, i.e. the factory build sheet. In your case, your car has option 575, which is the supplementary 12V sockets. Both my BMW's have it, which is bizarre as my 1 series has a pretty basic spec otherwise.
