Tried to enter this website:-

https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/

Got this message:-

"We're sorry to say that due to the General Data Protection Regulation, visitors from your location are unable to browse our web store."

Is this the start of the governments bks censorship of certain websites gone wrong. It's a sports clothing store

Exactly that. Lots of US newspapers did the same geo blocking.

Basically, they’ve taken the potential fines of not having proper controls around data seriously and decided it’s not worth it.

They are if someone from the EU happens to browse their site; that's why many take the easy way out and block access based on your IP.

potentially up to 320million usd fine, if I’ve done my maths right.
