Any Chopard Mille Miglia Gran Turismo XL Owners?
Discussion
I’m looking a for a new daily watch and ive had the Chopard Mille Miglia watches on my radar for some time - especially the Gran Turismo XL Chrono’s from 2008/2009.
Does anyone own one or similar and can give me any hints or tips on what to look out for please?
Is it worth seeking out actual competitor issue ones or does that not add much provenance?
Also, many don’t seem to come with box or papers (or tyre pressure gauge) which I find strange
I’ve been watching Chrono24 and a few specialist dealers in the Uk but haven’t found ‘the one’ yet.
Budget is up to £3k max

Hello
I own a 2008 MM GT XL with 'silver' dial. It's a fantastic watch, beautiful on the wrist and a lovely colour. I love the unusual 'under the crystal' printed numbers, gives a real unique feel to the watch.
Things to look out for:
The tyre tread rubber strap looks great but has 2 major issues (at least mine did)
1 - It is the grippiest rubber ever, and constantly pulls the hairs on my wrist, painfully so sometimes.
2 - The rubber seems to split a little where the strap meets the lugs, on the inside along the length of the spring bar. Not enough to make it ever feel insecure, but a bit unsightly.
It smells nice though.
The lug width is 23mm, a right pain if you want to replace the rubber with a leather strap as I did. I still haven't settled on a strap colour for the dial either, having tried brown, tan and black. Might try a blue next.
The date window cyclops lens on the underside of the crystal is an acquired taste. Makes reading the date from anything other than straight on a bit of a pain, and the magnification isn't all that, considering.
It's quite a thick watch and wears bigger than you think. I have 8" wrists, and its still big.
God knows how I'd replace the crystal if I broke it.
Buy one and you'll enjoy it.

I have this watch

But a competitor edition, fully boxed.
I've been thinking of selling for a while so could be persuaded!

Thanks for the comments - I have found one I like the look of and I’m currently in negotiation to get it for the right price.
Would you pay more for a Competitor Edition one out of interest?
They are “free” to people who successfully enter the race.Would you pay more for a Competitor Edition one out of interest?
Each driver gets one. They then release a number of commemorative editions to correspond with the year (2019 this year).

Thanks - I’m aware of that. I’m just trying to work out whether to pay more for a Competitor Edition one that is circa 10 years old...Each driver gets one. They then release a number of commemorative editions to correspond with the year (2019 this year).
