45 in 40 flash

Ok so I got flashed last night.
I had my GPS up and was showing I was doing 45 going through the camera. Annoying as I have gone through it at 45 before and didn’t get flashed.
Anyway expecting a fine and points.
I have 6 points from 2 years ago but my question is would I be able to do speed awareness course if it’s offered?
I looked online and read that if you have points before you can’t do speed awareness.
To add I have never done a speed awareness.

Well you would have been going 46 before you got flashed in a 40 - but if you do indeed get a NIP for 45, please post it up. They prosecute at 46 to 53mph (inclusive) for a speed awareness course. Being below prosecution guidelines you are probably ok. The issue will be if your 45 was picked up as 46 (if any of your instruments are off) and you were actually doing 46 or above

The idea is to go through at 45 on the speedo, knowing that it over-reads a couple of MPH. Going through at 45 on the GPS is a bit daft - GPS isn't continuously that accurate.

Just checked. You can refuse too accept a NIP after 14 days *UNLESS* things like postal strike or other reasons have stopped the NIP.

maybe its just me, but if i have a gps showing my actual speed and am passing a camera that I know is there in a limit that I know, I'd get the gps reading to match the limit for a few seconds....
do they sell common sense on Amazon yet?

The NIP has to be sent to the driver or registered keeper within 14 days.
In the case of speed cameras,where the drivers details are not taken at the time of the offence, the NIP will be sent to the registered keeper - That may not be the driver.
For example, if you drive a vehicle leased to the company you work for, and they're the registered keeper, then the NIP will be sent to your company (which should be within 14 days of the offence).
The company must then name the driver, and then the authorities have up to 6 months to serve papers on the driver.
If the driver is the registered keeper, then they should receive a NIP within 14 days.

So if it was a 70 limit, I'd go 78 on the speedo which is about 75/76 on GPS which still leaves me below guidelines for prosecution. If I went 79 on the GPS which would work out at 80-82 on speedo I would expect a ticket.

maybe its just me, but if i have a gps showing my actual speed and am passing a camera that I know is there in a limit that I know, I'd get the gps reading to match the limit for a few seconds....

The camera is after a small down hill. Annoying as even coasting if I’m in 6th car will easily pick up speed so have to brake for no reason (except the camera. It’s a dual carriageway with no crossings or junctions for 1 mile in one direction and about 800 yards the other.

That's because 79 is the speed automated cameras may activate. Try 78 gps and you wouldn't get a ticket.
