Hi guys.... I think my immobiliser is doing strange things.

Sometimes it doesn't err... immobilise.

I've noticed a couple of times now I've come back to the car and I've started it up and driven off and noticed that the "ALARM" light on the stack is flashing, still "immobilised" from when I last parked it up.

I tried starting it with the alarm armed and it immobilised it fine.

Fast forward a week and now whatever I do I can't get it to immobilise... no matter what state the alarm/immobiliser system is in, the fuel pump still whirs into life when I switch the ignition to "on".

Is it a signal that I need to have this looked at or is there some inadvertant keypress I've made on my remote that's "disabled" the immobiliser? Basically I just want to make sure that my car's immobiliser system is working properly... if the damn thing's not immobilising she'll be bloody easy to hotwire should I leave it parked somewhere?

Any help?

If the immobiliser part of the alarm has gone tits up there is a way to bypass it.

If you post on british cars or seloc there are some techies on there who could email you how to get around the problem.

But I dont think it should be published on an open forum.

Cheers... but it's not really a problem requiring an immobiliser buypass.

I've trawled the various threads and many people have reported immobiliser failures leaving them stranded... mine's the OPPOSITE problem.. that is the immobiliser doesn't seem to switch ON... meaning that I can arm the alarm (or wait for it to immobilise itself passively) and then just stick my key in the ignition and start the car. The ALARM is working fine, because if I do this, it screams bloody murder... but the engine is still running meaning that in any state it'd be easy to hotwire.... effectively I have a non-immobilising alarm system at the moment which leaves me feeling a bit iffy!

I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this if I can... I don't want to replace the whole system as it seems good, maybe just the immobiliser module if I can (although I hear it's coded so this might not work).

Given that it's an intermittant problem (it SOMETIMES works) I'm hoping that it could just be the relay on the immobiliser that actually trips the ignition/fuel circuits... if it's this I can probably repair the bugger myself.

Anyone know where the immobiliser module is located?

Cheers,
