You have to laugh ... Marking me down because the postage is too expensive.

It’s a large item in a large box ! If the Parcelforce postage is to expensive for you then don’t buy ! I’ve charged the exact amount. I’ve not even charged for bubble wrap etc.

If you don’t want to pay through the nose for Parcelforce then don’t buy the item.

This was a collection only item that the buyer pleaded with me to post sending message after message and agreed to the postage cost even before I added postage to the listing for them haha !

I guess the warning signs were there ..... Ok that’s off my chest cool story bro etc. As I’m a powerfully built company director I guess I could drive 200 miles to his house hammer frozen sausages into his lawn and bash him over the head with multiple cans of red bull....

P.s. I’m not a company director

You can leave "feedback" for them / short note explaining your side.
Ebay makes it hard to find but if google it then plenty of examples how to do this
Or contact ebay and see if can get it removed

Cheers Rich they left good feedback just poor rating for postage. Just bizarre how they beg for it to be posted, know upfront I’m only prepared to send PF and the cost.

Third world problems and all ....

One of the many many irritations of the one sided world of Ebay….heavily sides with the buyer regardless.

You can leave a comment on their feedback, but its risky as they can then see it and review there feedback to a neutral or negative.

At least you don't sell stickers to the "Sick Bro, Youths" of today....they want everything for free, yesterday and all because its their right.

Trouble is ebay is a good window for business...trying to be successful with your own website is a minefield of lost revenue

Give ebay a call they will look at communications between you and remove an unfair defect.

eBay do not always side with the buyer.

I sold a Kindle cover and in the description, I clearly stated that the light didn't work. It was actually intermittent but I thought it was easier just to say it doesn't work. The moron that bought it, English was not their first language, negged me because the light was not working. I went to eBay and they investigated and removed the neg.

I guess if the issue is clear then they'll side with whomsoever is in the right.

You actually had to call ebay up and waste time though. My point is, in the first instance with everything, they will side with the buyer.
There are many flaws in their system.

The OP has a point about packaging though.

I find the biggest problem is with Ebay users who only ever buy stuff and never sell anything - they don't seem to realise there are costs involved to package things up securely and then of course the courier charges, especially with heavier items.

Well in the event of a complaint/disagreement eBay has to side with one or the other (seller or buyer). Depending on where you are on this particular transaction you'll think this is a good or a bad thing. If they always sided with the seller then their system would be equally flawed

But my point is, they always side with the buyer...so system flawed

And my example is that they do not always side with the buyer.

The buyer negged me. I contact eBay and explain why there should be no neg. They decide I'm right and clean the neg.

Sorry what I meant is they will always side with the buyer unless you contact ebay. Ie you have to contact ebay to get them to use common sense and do the right thing.

Agree with this as i had contact about a year ago with a potential buyer asking about postage and why it was "expensive". I replied asking them to find a suitable courier that could deliver them the exhaust quickly / safely for less than i was charging, or they could come and collect it in person.
Unsurprisingly i never heard back from them.

The other problem nowadays is that so many companies (including eBay) actively promote / encourage "free" postage (and free returns) meaning a large chunk of buyers seem to have little / no concept of what things cost to send.

When i occasionally list anything on eBay now, i just account for the postal costs within the BIN / Best Offer / minimum price, but still list the item with free postage as that seems to cut back on the messages about costs.

I had some tool demand a refund & open a case because the parts he purchased didn't fit his car.

I refused on the grounds that the fist line of the listing specified it would only fit cars of a certain year. He is still trying to force eBay to refund me.

Had exactly the same, offered a repair panel for sale, photos and all with Collection Only
Guy pestered me for posting so wrapped and sent at cost.
Complained it has surface rust and that the postage costs were too high.

On another occasion has a girl from Italy demand I post a £35 music centre that she'd won despite it being listed as collection only.

The world is full of prats
