Does anyone know what Ford the plastic surrounds are off that fit behind the steering wheel (top of the steering rack)? One fits on the top with the warning lights switch through it, the other is bigger and fits underneath. Mine are cracked and falling off

Transit I think, but it doesn't matter, the old ones have a part number on the inside which your motor factor can match against. The top one has to be cut down to clear the dash, by the way.

Have tried my local motor factors, they told me I could only get trim parts directly from Ford, called them and they were VERY unhelpful, basically told me if I couldn;t tell them the exact car, they couldn't help!

Try and match with them Escort/Sierra at your local breakers. Condition is unimportant as you will have to cover them anyway.

Mk 3 Escort. The first of the front wheel drive versions.

Interesting to note that everyone else has a leather covering. Mine are simply painted plastic.

Perhaps the covering was only on subsequent models and not the S1.

My S2 had a plain black plastic cowl. V8S has far superior peeling off fake leather ...

Thanks everyone, I managed to find a different (more helpful) Ford dealer who supplied one. Mine are not leather covered, just standard black plastic which isn't smooth. I have a feeling my steering rack has been changed in the past. The other thing I noticed is the rack is not quite central to the dash, so when the covers go on they do not sit centrally against the dash?
I have looked but there does not seem to be any adjustment

Just going to have another look, by crawling upside down into the drivers footwell, should be fun!
Doesn;t look like there's any adjustment though
