As above, has anyone got one?

Ive just put the standard can back on my K3 GSX-R 600 but it still seems a bit on the loud side. Im at Castle Combe next month and I know how strict the testing is there. (105Db, 3/4 max revs, 1m at 45 deg angle)

My 848 evo on standard cans scrapes a pass (104) at 9k rpm, the suzuki sounds louder to me at the 10.5k it'll be tested at.

Cheers

Download the NIOSH ( American institute for occupational safety) soundmeter App onto your phone. It will not turn your phone’s microphone into a calibrated noise meter, but it will give you guide. Remember a 3db increase in in dB measured is a doubling in sound pressure level so allowing for huge margins of error you should get a good idea of where you are. I don’t know what kit and positioning they use for track days, but any questions on noise measurement I’ll give them a go. thumbup

You can use the 848 as a guide, if it gives a similar number on the app to what it was measured at, you'll know where you are with the other bike thumbup

As above, use it to calibrate your phone, some apps have an adjustment you can build in as well.

Will they really test at 10.5k at Combe?! My track bike is a 600 and generally they ask for 7k at most tracks.

Is there a track day at Combe you can go to to get it measured before the track day. I have a meter I bought from ebay and it's fine but my bike measured 94db at Bedford and 100db at Pembrey with the same exhaust and baffle. At the end of the day you're not going to know until they measure it for you.

Yup, they always insist on 3/4 max revs!!

There are a few but I'm about 1 1/2 hours away from Combe now. I'll ride up and get it tested if I get a chance but it's not a given that I'll make it.
