Thanks - that's who I've used previously. Was looking to compare a price. May well be using them again though. In the past I have used "Vehicle Rescue Direct" for single trip cover, they were by far the cheapest but they only cover crs up to 15 yrs old.
I now have a classic insurance policy which includes european breakdown cover within the policy.
I have just tried RAC online quote system and it seems to work for my car which was manufactured in 2000.
Compressive cover for 5 days comes out at £57.00 with repatriation cover to the value of the car.

Who did you use?
Vehicle Rescue Direct… seems they’re affiliated with AXA Assistance.delta0 said:
I’m thinking of going for RAC again this year for the repatriation cover.
The above are half the price of RAC which included repatriation cover up to the value of the car.In case its useful to others
I needed cover on a 2000 model A8 for a trip to Southern France and as my UK AA membership was expiring (and they didnt seem to offer europe cover on an old A8) I went with ADAC the German breakdown guys
The phone operator put me over to an english speaking person who handled everything (i did have to post stuff back to them too) and for Euro120 i got a years UK and Europe cover. They said (this is 2 years ago) that UK breakdowns would be covered by the AA.
I have since renewed with them, and while i have never had call to use them, I have no reason to believe they wouldnt sort me out.
Of all things the Caravaning Club website put me onto them, but i have heard stories of them refusing to cover people without a mainland europe address, but it worked fine for me

Grips my s
t, this does!
I’d wager that the majority of 15 + year old cars (mine included) that are heading to Le Mans this year are likely to be in excellent shape - both mechanically and electrically; and probably easier to fix by the roadside, (in the event that anything goes wrong), than more modern and electronically over-endowed cars.
Mines’ had a major service less than 100 miles ago and is (as far as I’m aware), fine fettle.
The prices for two days travel (it’ll be parked up for most of the time) leaves a bit of a taste (which I appreciate may just be me being grumpy)

Have to agree with you GBF.
My Range Rover is a 2006 and is fast approaching the 'I'm sorry, too old sir' yet hasn't done 80k.
But I could take my Hyundai i40 taxi with has over 100k and is not even 2yo yet.
Have to say Vehicle Rescue Direct are by far the best value. £88 for a full year of UK and Europe with Home Start, repatriation, and towing cover. All the bells and whistles for a fraction of the AA or RAC cost.

I had ADAC for a while. Signed up initially online using my UK address but adding a German postcode. Then changed it using the "meine neue adresse ist im ausland" on the website. Come renewal time I had to ring up and pay by card. Note if you want to cancel you have to give them notice before renewal date, you can't just stop paying.I needed cover on a 2000 model A8 for a trip to Southern France and as my UK AA membership was expiring (and they didnt seem to offer europe cover on an old A8) I went with ADAC the German breakdown guys

Never had to use it when in Europe but just after I sold my Boxster I had the misfortune to have to call them out to my less aged, practical 4-seater replacement. The AA do cover you in the UK but you have to ring ADAC rather than go direct and the cover is fix at the roadside or short tow.
