So I'm after the following...

330i M Sport in Mineral Grey

Options:
Parking Assistant Plus
M sport Plus

OTR on BMW website comes in at £42,135.

Have a PCP quote for the following.....
3 years at 15k miles per year.

£3450 deposit
35 x monthly of £540.48
GFV final optional payment of £15,1851.85

I work this out at an OTR cost of £38,218.65 which is 10% off standard OTR.

Is this a good deal? Anyone aware of anything better?

Have you tried via a broker?

I suspect you will pay much less than that.

Tried via carwow. So far no one has beaten the one posted above.

Leasing comes out a bit more expensive at £22,440 over the term so looks like you're onto a winner if you say brokers can't touch it

Not very hopeful with the GFMV are they?

£15k at 3 year old for a £42k car isn't good.

Seems massively expensive to me for a 4 cylinder 3 series. I think Tony at Berry BMW is doing X3 m40i deals for less than that.

Appreciate you may not want an X3 but just highlighting why I think your offer is expensive. Perhaps speak to him about the 330i.

I am part exing a 16 plate 320d m sport touring with 45k for 14400 and I had to fight for that - so that figure is probably not far off. I purchased it for 20500 at 13 months old and mine has a list of 38k (I know at the time you could get it cheaper via a broker though).

The residuals on BMWs are shocking

It ‘seems’ eye-wateringly expensive for a 2.0 4cyl 3 Series - over £22k for three years motoring, then give it back or pay the lump sum.

I have no idea how it stacks up against competitors, just seems a lot.

I’m probably just out of touch.

I've been in touch with bimmer deals at berry. They couldn't match it either unfortunately.

It would seem list prices have risen sharply whilst residuals are still based on prices from three years ago. £42 k to £15 is shocking. My first BMW back in 2002 cost me £18500, I sold it just before it was due it’s first MOT for a smidge under £14k.

Leaves plenty of equity at the end so you get caught on the PCP bandwagon forever!

To be honest I would be returning after 3 years. An expensive way of living but I like a new car every 3 years. Just go to work out whether to go for this one or something else. Would like something a little more fun to drive but still practical and the new 3 series seems to fit this.

Or could be a sign where the market will be in 3 years.

Sorry. What?

Having plenty of equity at the end is a sensible way to set up a PCP giving you more options at the end of the arrangement. It doesn’t tie you into pcp at all.

Assuming you're going to have equity at the end isn't the way to go about a PCP. Firstly you can't assume your car will be worth more than the GFMV. BMW usually set their GFMV reasonably accurately.

Secondly if you've got a low GFMV your monthly payments will obviously be higher. It's better knowing what the car will cost you than hoping it might work out better in the long run.

Even if this deal got to the end of the 3 years and the car was worth £18k, it still doesn't give much option to do anything other than take out another PCP if you want a new car.

Does anyone actually know the uptake of people paying the balloon payment at the end?

That deal is on the money most are around this figure, the gfmv will be very close so don't bank on having much excess equity.

What a waste of appx £20k to drive such a predictable car.

I wasted £4k to drive a brand new CLA £6k to drive a brand new C-Class, both for 12 months due to German tax laws, back to buying used for me smile

Pop over to the leasing thread, that’s circa £5/600 per month and would have got you into a new S8 (that might have been a while ago), Volvo S90 at appx £350, over the past few months.

If you are throwing the money away anyway, do it in style!
