+2

Have driven wheels off for 12 years since taking delivery new and circa 88k miles. Restored last year after a fairly sedate off considering approx crazy top speed I hit before heading straight into a farmers field. Fairly embarrassing sliding off the end of runway and onto grass at 30mph then into a field. Thankfully just a few very light nicks and grazes. She’s been tinkered with so running 680-700bhp for dd. On track just adding race fuel and adjusting map in a few mins gives you 800bhp. She’s been so much more fun once modded by 9e compared to when she was my dd.

There’s not much you can buy as a road car that will keep up in real world. Can’t be many people who have been crossed up at 200mph + on track and lived to tell the tale smile

I do like the shiny new stuff too. GT2 RS or 720s pls. Does make me laugh though when people say 911 turbo now has too much power for a manual box. That’s the one aspect of the experience which I struggle to let go of to replace the 997 with something newer.

Another shout for modding what you have and 9e.

My 991.2 T by 9e is making 550PS in a narrow bodied manual. You'd never know it had been tuned if not on it but pressing on it drives like a turbo S.

Just software and exhaust so far, bigger turbos and better intercoolers should liberate quite a lot more.

Biggest compliment I can give 9e is that the 997 turbo power kit feels almost completely stock other than the added crescendo of power. Most impressive mod for me they carried out is the DSC box, with GT2 rear arb and shorter progressive springs all round. Still comfortable but little or no understeer with Cup 2 tyres which is alchemy. Coil overs and bigger brakes on tinker list.

I count the 997 as new and shiny stuff though. Not a patch on air cooled in terms of character.

This I think is Ken's forte, I was thinking of a new shiny thing at the end of last year but decided on visiting 9e instead (having read a few PH posts about your car!)

Wow, so glad I did. Car is a 991.1 and he used the Do88 intake kit, Kline exhaust and bigger turbo wheels, genuinely feels like a factory car in terms of power delivery, but with 740ps it is devastatingly quick.

Like you, I also had the DSC module fitted and lowered Eibach springs, the standard Pirellis decided enough was enough and were very unhappy, so it now has 325/265 Cup 2s. Just so capable now.

I really cannot think what I would replace it with now, so fast and looks the absolute business. Not for every one but for me the 'new car' feel good factor is wonderful.

Going in week after next for decat to replace the 100 cellsbiggrinbiggrin

So where do you get to use all that power? It just goes to show how dull the turbo cars are when all that excites is turning up the boost to mega levels.

I took a friend out for a spin round Epsom downs in the 130 bhp 69 T. We had a blast. Hanging it out round the roundabouts. All that nonsense bhp is just a waste of money.

Counterintuitive but the extra power is more useable on road than your 997 GT3 BertBert.

PM me and happy to meet up and show you before I'm off overseas again. GT3s are blue flagged on track.

I agree nothing beats tinkering with an air cooled. They're a 50 year marriage wink

biggrinbiggrin Well I particularly enjoy it having a blast down some of the D roads in France, a regular trip for me. The D996 and 959 spring to mind, they are bumpy roads and the car feels alive, corners fast and has a fantastic wallop between the corners followed by superb crackles on the overrun before the next bend. No traffic either, I find it addictive, but I am sure I would absolutely love a GT3 in the same circumstances. With mine however I do the same trip in winter, on winter tyres with the skis on the roof, slower but still fun!

I also have a Mini Cooper with the grand total of 63hp, and like your T is an absolute blast on the twisties, try and never lift off hehe

The tweeked turbo is a great do it all car which I would not replace, the money spent is well worth it to me. I could be persuaded to buy a GT3 as well however but that is another story...................biglaugh
