I remember playing a F1 game on PS1, I sat and did a full length race at Suzuka.. and didn't touch another driving game untill GTS came out smile The latest game looks great, is it fun to play?

I found 2017 cars a bit weird on the handling, 2018 is a lot better but still has some quirks.

I always say im not getting the next iteration but end up getting it when The PS store have it on sale.

I dont find single player too frustrating, it has its moments but on the whole not that bad. Online is a little more annoying as the AI do some random things like overtake you under the safety car so you repass them only to be told to give the place back. I only play a mate online so havent suffered with randomers although he does like to cheat a little...

It is really quite good to race the tracks you are watching this season. Makes quite a difference - Monaco is, well, exciting.... The cockpit view as you inch past the walls can turn your stomach. And if you have a headset you can speak to your engineer for certain updates etc which is quite good.

AW I have that glitch on the single player sometimes. It does have a fair few problems, or at least it does for me..

I also seem to have an ear to hand malfunction, Jeff says "You are doing a great job, keep it up" and what I hear is "Right now we'd like you to crash the car, you can just drive straight off the circuit, hit a barrier or even another car if you like, up to you"..........

I’ve just started playing this and it’s the most fun F1 game I’ve played. Started a season in the Sauber and enjoying so far having to balance the fuel and ers.

Do you play online much?

Never played it online !

It is also pretty good having to set up the cars etc but it really p***s me off when the AI cars just crash into you and knock you off the road, no complaint from the Engineer, no Race Director stepping in and no penalty..... AND if you are behind the safety car, they can overtake you sometimes and then when you try to take them back you get a penalty !!

Can’t say I’ve had any of those issues. I find overtaking under a blue flag frustrating. They’ll either not get out of the way or brake hard for no reason when they’re in front of you. I usually end up with at least 1 extra pit stop because of that. I am getting used to it though and just hanging back until I know I can get through.

I’ve set it just hard enough that I don’t win easily and have to fight for my position in a Sauber. I love that there’s so much strategy involved with pit stops, tyre wear fuel and ERS all to balance.

Yes it is fun when that happens too. Along with when you get overtaken sometimes they just charge and knock you out of the way.....

And if you set the car up poorly and it rains and you end up sliding all over the place...... The switching to inters decision is so hard..... And can win and lose a race...

But it also gets on my nerves when I change the pitstop window and tyres and then Jeff comes over the running with a "New Strategy" that looks surprisingly familiar.

I know it is really hard for them to programme but for some reason when I ask "who am I racing" he just appears to pick two names at random !!

But overall it is still awesome, I mean, driving Monaco in the cockpit is heart in mouth stuff.... And I don't think I often manage to complete a practice or race without needing a new front wing !

I struggled with 2017 and haven't been bothered too pick up the rest. Maybe I've set it too hard (or maybe it's realistic laugh) but i can't seem to get near top 10 in my Williams, and i seem to have less grip than everyone else, especially in the wet.

Plus Geoff keeps making terrible race strategy calls for me so i lose loads of positions (both from the strategy and trying to tell him to shut up / ok / change plan from the steering wheel and crashing whilst doing so). I failed at Barcelona when it started chucking it down, Geoff called me in, and proceeded to fit a shiny set of super softs. Twice.

I think i made it to Monaco (having been soundly beaten by Massa who it appears has been given a fresh leash on life and is smashing the points regularly) but the vibration from the track makes it feel like my notoriously delicate wheel (T300RS) is about to fall off. And i was hopeless on the controller.

So that's probably the end of my short F1 career

Do you have a headset? I only realised recently (having crashed a number of times trying to sort out tyres etc) that you can use the Mic and talk to Jeff through it, you can say "set inters" and so on and it changes the tyres. You need to decide for yourself when to switch, I use the DRS as my cue, basically if DRS is disabled it is time for inters and when it is enabled time for slicks.

I also often try to get through Q2 on the harder tyres so I can go longer in the race and I tend to adjust the strategy as well from the "plan" - and I always add half a lap more fuel so I can use it with DRS to overtake as in a back/midfield team I found Ferrari and Merc could stay in front even when I had DRS !!

The one thing I can't do is start.. I have never not lost at least one place, usually 2-3 and often 4-5..... P***es me right off !!

Just done the Baku round tonight. It’s a real test of patience on a narrow track not to try and barge through and wait until an opportunity arises to overtake.

Had to restart after the first go as I lost a wheel on the first corner. Broke my front wing a few times in the race necessitating a stop outside of the strategy each time. Managed 6th in my Sauber with a fastest lap on the last lap.

Just renegotiated my contract to become first driver and some bonuses. Considered negotiating with a new team until I realised it would make you switch at the next race.I’m going to stick with Sauber for the season then see what options I have.

If you play for a couple of seasons you pretty much have enough resource points to develop the car enough to match the Mercs/Ferraris...... And beat them. In my third season for Force India in F1 2017 I won every race...............Yes, even Monaco in the wet.....

I'm playing F1 2017, and it's just boring as hell really. You have to increase the difficulty really every few races to keep the racing interesting. What I mean by this is that if you don't you'll be on pole by a second and win the race start to finish every single race. That's boring, I want some jeopardy.

And the bugs kill this game, well they've killed every F1 game Codemasters has made in my opinion. So many times I've been behind the safety car in a queue, I ghost out because I'm going slow, driver behind overtakes and I can't get the position back. It happened so baldy once I went from 4th to 10th just because of that.

In my opinion, if you want a great F1 sim, it has to be eithe Grand Prix 3 or Grand Prix 4.
