Several years ago I was a member here - that was in my Porsche and married days. Pleased to say now I'm back, and these days are Aston Martin and divorced (it took a few years to rebuild...!). Already picked up a load of useful info in here and looking forward to learning a lot more.

Anyway I've done a deal on a Vantage 4.7 Roadster, model year 10 (I started looking for an early 4.3 coupe...but then the budget crept, the spec crept, the budget crept and thus the vicious circle continued...).

Car is away for some prep with the dealer (nothing major, detailing etc), hopefully collecting in a couple weeks. Could be sooner but work is rather in the way at the moment - as is my trip to Le Mans in a mate's RS7. She had new clutch and brakes all round less than 2000 miles ago and has all the options I wanted (extended sills, sports suspension the main ones) except premium sound...but the deal was right so I'll listen to the engine instead.

Plan is to collect her, remove the exhaust flap fuse at the first lay by, then get used to her before looking at some mild enhancements - most likely decats or 200 cell cats depending on which 4.7 cat set up she has (as a v late MY10 I think she is on the cusp of 2 cats as per 4.3 or 4 cats as per later 4.7). Despite being registered December 2010 she is definitely a MY10 on the chassis decode.

So, as the protocol demands, a few pics (I did see the car was actually referred to in an earlier post a few pages back):

Can't wait to get her on the driveway!

I have the 'bible' (Grant) book and the Vantage pages are already well thumbed. I also have the trickle charger ready and waiting!

Congratulations! Great looking car and looks in fabulous condition.

I expect you’re counting down the days already before you can pick it up - I know I did!

In addition to the battery conditioner you might also get an exhaust remote from cccharger - keeps the valves active when you switch between quiet and noisy - better than pulling fuse 22 which opens the valves permanently and allows them to seize over time.

Enjoy the car when you pick it up and make sure you drive it as much as you can!

Thanks! Yes I’ve seen the remote exhaust switch and will need it I think. But just for the heck of it and cos I like fiddling with electrics I may make my own. I need to find out if I have an early 4.7 exhaust or late 4.7 exhaust as well then order the correct bits (prob from Quicksilver) for a bit more proper V8 noise.

And yes I am very much counting down the days!

Congrats - saw that on Autotrader and it looked amazing value - slightly higher miles means you get a lot for your money. When they first listed it, it had gold wheels which looked a bit odd. Better now refurbished in black (though I personally prefer graphite or silver).

I've also got a 2010 (October) 4.7 manual roadster - I think yours will be the earlier 2 cat system.

Enjoy it - looks great!

Any pics of it with the gold wheels? Looking at having mine powder coated also on a black car.

A google search on the reg brings this up (from Gumtree)....there are various other angles if you want them. I can understand why the dealer would've had them redone...I don't think it works very well - especially against the grille, but each to their own - the previous owner obviously felt it worked.

Yeah definitely black wheels for me. Which is handy given I’ve bought it. Bonus for me as well in that the alloys got a professional refurb and powder coat.

So where best to get the 200 cell cats? Assuming as seems likely it’s a 2 box system. I’ve heard good things of Quicksilver. Not sure I fancy the cheap alternatives on eBay.

Well I collected the car yesterday and already I love it! Very happy with the dealer service (so far - it's how they cope with any necessary post-sales issues that is the real test of course...). Would have been last week but I spent the weekend at Le Mans (in PH camping Blue as it happens so maybe some of you reading this were having breakfast alongside us - what a great weekend it was!).

Bonuses I hadn't originally realised I was getting: the car has Premium sound (which I need to set up using the instructions on here) and sitting in the boot is a bagged up wind deflector so that is several £hundred-worth of extras I hadn't even factored in originally (and means the car has all the spec I wanted when I started looking). The Lamy pen is even still present!

When the dealer sent it for MOT they picked up an intermittent rear light indicator so I have a new rear light cluster as well. Every little helps.

No doubt I'll be back with lots of daft questions - to which I am sure the answer will often be RTFM and / or TADTS but really looking forward to getting to know the car better.

And, of course, no new (to me) car thread is complete without obligatory picture:
