Castle in the sky time. What topless 50's, 60's or 70's sportscar would you buy?

Max theoretical budget is half a million quid. Obviously, you don't need to "spend" that figure if all you want is a Alfa Spider. Love to hear your choices and why.

For me, I think it would need to be something Italian.

Probably a Lancia Flaminia spyder, maybe sports car is pushing it, but there you go.

Elan Sprint - and blow the remaining £450K on hookers and coke... I defy you to find anything that meets the criteria that's as nice to drive on normal public roads.

MX-5 looks good, drives great, does the speed limit with ease, makes you smile, no need to spend any more really..(change from 3K)

Edit, not pre 80 but who cares!

Would a 64 Impala SS with bouncing hydraulics count as a sports car?

If not then the late 50s Merc SL, just look lovely.

Yep, more budget please, 427 Cobra is the only thing I'd want.

If not, might just get a 289 Cobra for the budget.

Traction avant decopatible or Aurelia spider. Would likely be equally happy with a nice fiat 500 or ripple 2cv or Renault 4 but more limited when it comes to the grand routier stuff

This looks like it might be fun...Surely wouldn't take us up to top budget to get it road registered...
