Fuel pump not priming.
Discussion
Hi guys. Need help. Trying to move my chimaera back into garage. Engine will turn over but won't start. Can't here the fuel pump priming as I usually do. Its same symptoms as when you try to start without doing the immobiliser bit first. Any ideas how to diagnose? And what to do.
Tried swapping both brown relays on the end of the dangling connectors. No luck.
Fuses?
Only things I've done since last starting was changed side indicators (cut wires and solder jobby). And washed it.
Battery is flat but never had a problem jumping it off my boost pack.
Need to hear that pump whirring.
I have read about immobiliser issues and theres advice to bypass but I'd need very detailed instructions.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Rich

You should get a 2 sec pulse of the pump at key on (immobiliser off). My first test would be with a multimeter at the pump connections, or use a bulb. If you get a voltage pulse here, your problem is the pump. Otherwise you need to work your way back - connections, wiring, relay, ECU.
Good luck. Dougal.

Usually even with the battery flat and a half charged jump pack I can get it started. Can't remember starting it without the jump pack!
I have the car jacked up now trying to see if theres voltage to the pump. I assume the pump will only have voltage for a few seconds once key is turned?
I have a rover gauge, never used it before and have no idea how to but would that be any use?
I think it's to do with immobiliser

Ok I have good news and awful poop irritating stupid news.
Good news, my starting problem was a sticky fuel pump, tap with a hammer sorted it, will replace with new one as guess it will probably do it again. That's the good news.....
Bad news is the whole reason I wanted to get it in the garage was because my drive way is on a slope and I wanted to do a few bits on it and jacking it up on a slope isn't ideal. Well I jacked it up to test the fuel pump, got it working then unfortunately being the idiot i am i lowered the Jack while the wife was distracting me (her fault) forgetting the axle stand was still under, car started to try to roll down the slope knocking axle stand over, axle stand managed to RIP the petrol tank pipe connector clean off.
So if anyone has any info on removing the tank please. It looks straight forward but the way my luck is it will be a pain in the butt.
