I'm sure this is an easy fix if you know...

Recently bought an L200 pickup, 2004, and since purchase the screen washers haven't been right. Now and then (actually most of the time) they just stop working, if I open and close the lid of the reservoir, they start working again for a while.

Suggests to me some kind of vaccuum building up which the pump can't overcome. Should there be a breather that might be blocked or is it more likely the pump on its last legs?

Thanks.

Seems pretty unlikely. Is the reservoir full?

About 2/3 full I think... what are you thinking?

Drill a small hole in the top of the reservoir (thinking a couple of mm) and see if that cures it.

Mainly checking that it wasn't empty and that you weren't topping it up when the problem cleared.

If you leave the cap loose, does the problem still happen?

Sort of. Think I figured it out last night - it's actually the act of popping the bonnet that makes it work again, so closer inspection of the pipes etc. and it's obvious that it has been re-plumbed at some stage in its life and the hoses were a bit loose. I reckon they were getting jammed in the bonnet. Tweaked it a bit and seems to be fine now. At least I know what to look for next time!

Thanks all.
