new wheels

Just fitted my new 17" alloys from Rochford tyres.


I think they look stunning. Fitted with one step up from budget tyres. Excerlent grip in the dry, not tried wet weather driving yet. Had too much sunshine

IMHO car looks better with no rubber bumpers and round lights. Not to everybodies taste I know. Stepped away from concours I think!!
Anyone need 15" Chim wheels?

Going to the south of France in 2 weeks, 2000 miles there and back. Glad to read a different thread said "speedferries" were excerlent

Lovely Tony,really looks great.
Amazing the difference a change of alloys makes to the whole cars looks.
I like the back lights too,but lets no go there again!

Speedferries were great for me last week,hope you find the same.

Just a quick thing, maybe the lowering thing is because Tim and I are too young and possibly slightly spoilt by the "slammed to the deck" look of cars these days.

True, but im sure even 40mm drop would make it look much better, the wheels are almost out the arches atm, Just my opinion

Lowering it is a good idea, already thought of. It will also involve more cost as my springs are on lowest settings. Also the exhaust is only 100mm off the ground now so bottoming out would become worse.

Something does not appear to be correct, the wheels look lost in the arches. Do you have the natural choice of 215/45/17 size tyres fitted or are they smaller?

I have 17's with lowered (too low) suspension (nitrons)

They take up the space nicely

What tyres do you have brioss? Looks like 215/45s whereas the TT car looks a bit like 205/40s...BTW one post will do.

Just as a matter of interest, what is the ride height from the outriggers and do you have adjustable shocks because it looks very high to me and I wonder if the alignment has been compromised.
If you do have adjustable shocks as low as they can go, I would be wondering about getting some custom springs made and I could ask my spring maker for a quote if you were interested.

I am guessing that they are 205/40 17 tyres.

I tried them on the front of mine for a short time.

They affect the speedo reading but also compromised the ride quality.

Now fitted with 205/50s (mainly because they were free!!)

Other than the height, car looks great although I am on the fence about the rear lights.

It would appear then that you have very long and presumably soft springs. A set of springs should not be too dear; try having a chat to Richard Thorp, Julian Lane or Bugsy.

Should not make any difference at all. It appears that you are mixing up adjustable shocks with adjustable spring seats.

No it doesnt, the speedo gets its feed from the gearbox and is calibrated for 15 inch wheels with standard tyres on. Therefore if you change the wheel and tyre size to ones that give a smaller or larger circumference then the speedo will be under or over reading. There is a chart in th "Bible " that gives tyre sizes and %over or under.

I was talking about spring seat adjustment not damping, the question still stands, if the shocks are spring seat adjustable and are as low as they can go, then maybe 8" springs would be better and only cost 20 squid each.
