I am at the pod this weekend and the race series I am in just run in with the 'run whay ya brung' so if anyone fancies a passenger ride in my newly turbo'd Chim then bring a helmet and come see me.

It would be great to see others come along also. I know the pod is very busy these days but I think this weekend may be one of the quieter ones especially with the weather a little hit and miss.

Barrie Piper will also be there and he has much more boost then me so we may see a new record broken!

Yes, yesterday morning.

I saw, what I think was a Blue Chimaera lining up, but it was a fleeting glance as I was joining the queue.

Think it had a 555 plate.

That’s about it smile

Yes was me.

I was racing with the Outlaw Street guys.

Only did 3 runs on Saturday.
11.8 on the first run with a gentle launch.
Then totally cocked up the second run missing 2nd gear!
Third run was burning a lot of oil on the overrun so called it a day.

It was far too hot Saturday, Outlaw street had 28 cars in attendance and 11 broke or went home poorly.

What do you think is the oil problem?

Maybe a problem with the Chinese turbo, seals or too much oil feed for a bearing turbo but Eann has already told me it had a 1mm restrictor.
Could be the dodgy bottom end with scores on the bores getting worse or a problem up top with valve guide seals.

Guess an inspection of the exhaust from the turbo then a compression test and go from there

Running 13's in a standard car year after year would be boring.

There was a supercharged Chimaera there Saturday running 14's at 94. He said he usually gets 116 terminals but said his intake temperatures were through the roof!

Strange as mine was not getting enough oil.

Yours is a journal bearing needing good oil supply whereas mine is ball bearing needing a minimal spray of oil

I managed Two runs. First one, I messed up the start, then had wheel spin in First and Second, and didn’t feel great going in to Third smile .... That was in the Right lane.

I then queued over an hour, and ended up getting diverted to the Right lane again frown That wasn’t great either, 14 seconds, but with a 112 mph et in 3rd gear. The car appears to have the poke, I was just crap at launching it.

The queue was even longer afterwards, so I sloped off with my tail between my legs smile

That’s the trouble now that Shakey has gone. Hardly any drag venues at all, a dying sport if nothing is done.

I used to have at least 15 runs at Shakey.

Launching is the hardest thing with a powerful car without traction control. A little practice and self control pays dividends.

Check your timing slip, ideally a 0-60ft of 1.60-1.80 seconds is a good indication of a good run.

Also look at the 1/4 mile leader board and you’ll see what I mean.

It was a weird one on Saturday. The track got that hot that the rubber was melting and making for a greasy surface that didn't work for street tyres.
The guys on drag radials and slicks were doing ok.

Its all about proper tyres on a prepped drag strip. You need to experience a pair of properly warmed up Mickey Thompsons, the grip is endless.
Queuing for an hour between runs isn't bad at all at the pod. The day was relatively quiet for RWYB. If you had been there all day then no reason to get a dozen runs in considering the track was running till 8:30 pm.

112 mph terminal is good for a mid 12 normally. I hope you come back and maybe try my tyres. I have a spare driveshaft if the worst happens smile
