Obviously Tent and sleeping bag etc are essentials but what's the item that you take that although not essential is

For me it's my espresso machine

Don't get thinking it's some big electrical bit of kit that needs 240 volts etc

Not mine

Mine a 13 cup version that looks like a Saturn 5 rocket

I've never camped without it and I never want to either

Interested to see what other people regard as their essentials

Duct tape put a roll in with the tent.

Brilliant when you snap a pole or rip the tent.

A fk-off massive wine glass, so I can maintain my thin veneer of class rather than taking slugs from the bottle.

Privacy tent and pump shower.

And proper mugs. None of your plastic malarky. Tea/Coffee cannot be drunk from a plastic mug.

Igloo Maxcold cooler. Fill with ice at home on the Tuesday and there's still some left to throw away on the Sunday evening.

I'm never without duct tape, cable ties & WD40.............

If it moves and it shouldn't duct tape or cable ties - if it doesn't move and it should WD40.......

A ‘silent’ generator, the lifeblood of our camp, and a battery powered (and USB) fan for my tent. I’m always hot and having a bit of air blowing on you makes all the difference in the world (especially in 2017).

I thought it was common knowledge that the essentials for camping were a foam stetson and a bat n ball........
