Track days and punctures
Discussion
I have another track day booked in for August. I also just got a puncture on my pretty much new rear tyre, its a good puncture to be honest just a small hole right in the centre of the tyre. I have plugged it using the oxford tubeless kit (the one with the stick brown sticks that go in the tyre), reckon this will be okay for a track day ?
The tyre I had on before got a very large puncture and i used the same method to fix and rode the bike for 3+months of hard road riding and it was ok.

Absolutely not. Get a proper repair from the inside of the tyre if you're going to do a track day. I've had those brown stick ones fail in the past at normal town speeds.
The best "temporary" plug I've used is the "stop and go" kit. I fit them and use them permanently. I wouldn't do a track day with anything but a proper interal repair though.

What he said. Maybe it will be ok maybe it won't.The best "temporary" plug I've used is the "stop and go" kit. I fit them and use them permanently. I wouldn't do a track day with anything but a proper interal repair though.
I have used a properly repaired Supercorsa on track many years ago on my 600.

Would I continue to use a 'temporary' repair on the road, yes I would and have. For track NO way, minimum as previously said needs to be a proper vulcanised internal patch. Your call but definitely a NO from me.
And another NO from me. Compare how much a proper repair is against the damage a rear tyre letting go will be, let alone any damage you might do to yourself or others.Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
