Hello F1 fans,

Is anyone attending the F1 at Silverstone this year and staying in the Whittlebury camp site?
5 of us attending for our first F1 weekend, arriving Thursday morning/early afternoon.
Have won Pit walk tickets for the Thursday afternoon (everyone seems to win these?)

Just general admission tickets so will be scouting over the Thursday/Friday/Saturday where best to sit.

Any advice from F1 veterans is appreciated!

I don't know the whitttlebury site as I tend to go much closer to the circuit. Goes without saying - get there early to the site and the circuit. Use Friday to scout vantage points. Tifosi are always good for a game of footy...

Gen admission areas are best at vale and luffield for atmosphere and access to the f1 village. As such they are always packed. If you want to invade the podium get to club. Nice and close but crappy views

I did this, albeit it many years ago. Had to be at the main gate around 6am on race day otherwise there was no chance of a decent spot. Take your fold up seats with you and have a nap once you're settled.

It is pretty close to the circuit! I have stayed there before when attending car shows. I have had a look at last years layout and assume it doesn't change too much so would like to be close to the F1 village rather than miles away. But yeah view of the race is more important that storming the podium.

Yeah we plan to be there as early as we can fingers crossed we get a good spot! Plan is a fold up chair each and a rolling cool box with food and drinks in so we shouldn't have to move too much once we are sat down

You'll be fine with that. Take a hat, some sun cream and a poncho to allow for all eventualities. Note that people will be queuing about 45 minutes before whatever time the tickets say the gates open. I recall we were trudging through the fields and hedgerows in the dark on the way there...felt like we were in the French resistance. The camping people put on a good show though - no complaints on that front and you can catch up on your sleep for the first 2-3 hours. Have fun.
