As usual many thanks in advance for the sites advice.

We have a 2014 A4 estate car we use for weekend lugging and recently a headlight not working message popped up. Ordered a new bulb (not cheap) yet still same message crops up.

Light works when first in the car but about two minutes later the lights go out. (Both this time) so assuming it’s a ballast issue? Lights are set on auto and if you flick them on and off they work again for about two minutes.

Does anyone know best way to fix this? Do I need to buy two ballast control units for both lights?

Again thanks in advance.

Does sound like the ballast but unusual for both to go at the same time.

You could do with finding someone local with VCDS to do a scan.

Yes, really odd for them both to go.

In the case of Xenon issues we usually swap the ballasts side to side as a first port of call. It usually confirms the dead one but on the odd occasion (strangely) makes the problem go away.

Thanks Gents,

Dr G, will try that this weekend, the ballast being the metal 'controller' type thing that the bulb plugs into? Also one or both have gone, is there a good place to order new ones? prices seem quite errr varied on the internet.

Cheers
