Friend clocked at 105

This was in a 60mph road - was clocked by a policeman with a radar gun - this is a friend not a “friend” so relying on how it’s being relayed but says details were taken speed was recorded as above and apparently copper was generally quite friendly and even complimented his car
What are the chances this gets lost in post
If he doesn’t get a NIP within 2 weeks is he home and dry?
What is the standard penalty , would assume for that it’s a 3-6m ban unless lucky?

That - they've got 6 months to serve it before the court and often use all of this time - winner as its then on your license for a shorter period....What to expect - 6 points if lucky, else a short ban

I got pulled over at 102 on a motorway by a traffic cop in an unmarked car. Had the video footage played back to me in the back of his car, speed confirmed and in no uncertain terms told to expect a summons.
6 months came and went without receiving anything.
I know this was just rotten good luck and that it got “lost” in processing somewhere, but just saying it can and does happen.

It is literally all down to your record and personal situation. I was caught and pulled over doing 124 In a 60 on my R1 in Feb. I got my summons at the start of July. I decided to plead guilty and attend court representing myself. Due to the mitigation I put forward with work and my family life and with 10 years clean I have just received a 14 day ban and a £900 fine from the court. My friend got caught doing 80 in a 50 and got a 30 day ban with £1000 fine, he also had a brief that he paid £1000 for.
It is really all down to your friends mitigation and driving record. Solicitors told me I was looking at 90 days plus as I was grossly excessive so I am glad I dealt with it myself and held my hands up.
I also know someone who was clocked at 140, stopped and never heard anything as it has been missed.
My summons took 5 months to arrive FYI.
If your summons comes in, plead guilty early as they take that into account but as I’ve said, don’t compare it to other people as its a case by case situation.
Keep your fingers crossed for him as some don’t get processed.

I’ve had a few attitude test passes. More recently I overtook a police inspector in an unmarked X5 at north of a ton on a clear NSL a road and somehow managed to just get a talking to. Potentially pushing my luck I asked him to explain his lenience and he explained that the fact I immediately apologised and admitted my wrongdoing set me apart from most offenders. Wouldn’t want to try that one again though.Maybe I was lucky or maybe I passed the attitude test, who knows.

Friend of mine got clocked over the 100mph mark on a motorway at about 5.30am.
She'd had some bloke in another car harassing her, flashing lights, tailgating so she put her foot down and left him to it.
It took a year before she went to court but due to her account and accuracy of it both times it was recounted, she got let off with nothing but court costs (£450 though!).
I was really surprised how long it had taken to come through though.

BUT this is easily said than done.
I was stopped a few years back for 101 in a 60, the Police officer seemed most outraged and certainly didn't complement me in any way.
Had to go to court although it was a good 6 months+ before they called me in, I was warned that would probably get a month or so ban but Magistrate awarded me 6pts + £400 fine.

Not strictly, it's not a menu. Having said that, the courts do have discretion and they might (discreetly or otherwise) let it be known they can exercise one option or another.I was up on the last ever sitting of one particular magistrates court a few years back and it was made pretty clear when I was questioned by the mags that, nod nod, wink wink, if I could use my holiday at work would a short ban work better than the points. Was also over Christmas.
That was for 117 on a short downhill dual carriageway.
Oh, can I have points for using the correct version of 'dual'? (And I mean browny points l, rather than SP30 ones....)

Your right mate it don’t. But the magistrate asked me, “are you asking the court to not disqualify” so I never really got a choice but She seemed sincere in her approach.. if I said I would prefer points maybe I would of got points.
