I’ve checked and read posting rules to make sure a review is allowed. I couldn’t see anything that says not, I’m not in anyway connected to this place, rather a customer who has searched high and low for a decent sprayer/bodyshop so thought I’d pass on!

My car is a Cayman in speed yellow. I had a very nasty sharp little dent on the rear quarter panel caused by falling masonry. Additionally some utter unmentionable impacted a car or something into the rear bumper leaving a few dents in the plastic as well is taking the paint off. So both these things needed fixing as well as spraying.

From visiting other bodyshops over the last few years I know yellow, speed yellow in particular is the utter hell to match, some places won’t touch it. I’ve tried 2 prior bodyshops with other items with limited success. I came across a place near Donaghadee in County Down called KRCR. It’s run by a guy called Terry Henry. I left the car down and they took some paint readings.

One thing this place do is give you straight up honest expectations and different options where available in line with the level of what you’re looking for.

For me I’m a stickler as it’s my hobby car, so ideally wanted the best job possible without going utterly insane and having to respray the entire car.

Once they had a few base readings I took the car back and the next few weeks in between other jobs they sprayed an astonishing amount of test cards and tried alsorts of paint schemes before honing the closest by eye to further bring it inline. Basically with speed yellow, no matter what paint scheme used the stock “recipe” doesn’t come close. The problem compounding that my car had subtly faded to differing degrees on every surface making blending a challenge.

Terry rang me up and when he was within 90 percent of what he needed he asked me to drop the car over for the final adjustments to be made. So I left it in and they ran more test cards, fine tuning the tint. Once he was happy he rang me up for the go and the battle plan for the repairs and spraying.

I picked the car up and I’m bloody delighted, not to mention relieved. It’s surpassed my expectations. I’ve had so many other places tell me they won’t touch speed yellow. Put it this way, I cannot tell it’s been repaired. It looks the same as it was prior to the damage.

What seems to differ about this place is attention to detail and incredibly high standards. It’s almost OCD levels. They’re really honest with you and if they’re not happy you’re going to be happy they won’t do it, which is comforting, no fobbing you off. If you’re willing to wait and don’t mind paying for the effort and time needed to get the paint close, they are happy to keep adjusting and adjusting until it’s right. If they can’t get it to where they’re happy to do the work, they won’t go ahead with it. No “it’ll be fine” and then handing it back below expectations. Most folk with a shopping car might be happy with “ok” but if you’ve something nice you want it done the best you can.

So, if you’re in NI and you’re ever in need of work for an odd or difficult colour I’d recommend visiting them to see what they say.

I’ve no before shots of the bumper but it was pretty scraped, I’ll take some after shots of the bumper when the light is better
