Now Bliar wants us to spend £93 (inc VAT FFS!!!!) on an identity card.

Sorry, but I can't afford it. What then to$$er?

They are trying to say that it will incorporate all the same stuff thats going to be on a Passport. Well I'll just use my passport then.

And how much are passports going to cost in future?

This country has truly truly lost the bloody plot. I have managed for several decades without any ID at all most of the time why now?

Security and terrorism may arse. Trackabilty by the Revenue more likely.

I am rapidly going off this country.

We'll be required to carry a card that contains details of our fingerprints and our iris scans. Now, maybe it's just me but i already carry my fingerprints and irises around with me.

It's meant to prevent identity theft. So all they need to do now is steal one card to get your identity.

It'll just hinder, frustrate and track to an even greater extent the already registered.

It's complete and utter BS; in countries where there are ID cards, there is more terrorist activity than here, it doesn't stop it.

It's a Labour cloak (excuse) to keep better tabs on you, that's all, terrorism prevention has nothing to do with it.

Now if that £93 bought you a combined:
passport
driving license (no F&*ing paper bit)
NHS entitlement card
council leisure centre admission
digital certificate for webby stuff

then yeah, crack on boys.

And while you are at it, sort this crap out where I might exist in a database for every jumped up civil servant on the planet. I exist once, so link up the me in the NHS, DWP, police nation computer.

Guess what, that charge wasn't mentioned in their manifesto, I bet (haven't read it, but I would be money against their having mentioned it).

IMO it's nothing to do with terrorism. It's just a Big Brother thing. When there's no war to fight, a bored Government turns on its people instead.

I've spent three years studying 'terrorism' and ID cards won't help deal with the problem AT ALL. It's a load of b*llocks from Bliar once more.

You're dead right. They have ID cards in Madrid and it made sod all difference there. How the hell will it deter a suicide bomber?

Secondly, it will be "optional" to carry it - so what is the point?

It will create a booming black-market for fake ID cards. There's never been a card that hasn't been forged, so give it a (short) while and the new ID cards will be forged - and will probably cost less to buy than the real thing. Typical Government farcical spending on a needless, pethetic, impotent waste of everyone's time.
