Look at NevPugh308s profile - he's an ex-GT6 nut.

I've had one too, and at the weekend (in a moment of weakness) my wife said I could get another!

Great little machines. Ebay is good for them. I'm looking at a GT6/Spitfire conversion that's on there at the moment. Best of both worlds.

If it wasn't for Simons S3, I would have definately bid on that.
I think it made £1950 without reaching reserve. I reckon a £2000 bid may have secured it.

Curiously, I liked the black wheels.

Hiya, back again, wondering how badly gt6s rust compared to my usual fare (early 80s italian stuff).

If i could find a mucked about one cheaply, fit a zetec and it could make a nice daily driver?

Look, you can make them a nice daily driver without putting some shitty ford engine in there. And they certainly don't rust like your italian rubbish...

Seriously, if well protected, rust isn't a big problem. And the straight six engine is pretty tough - you just need to make sure that all the ancillary bits are up together. Put on an electronic ignition system and you'll solve most of the potential problems in one hit.

To avoid the rust, check out the Bond Equipe series - they're all a GT6 is, with fibreglass bodies. And they're cheaper too.

Close, but no banana.

Bond Equipe GT 2+2's were based on a 1300 Spitfire engine, mounted on modified Herald chassis/running gear. The Equipe 4S/GT 2 Liter's were the same, with the use of the 2L Vitesse engine.

In all cases, only the outer body was fiberglass. The chassis/sloor/scuttle are the Herald/Vitess pressed steel items.

As for engine swaps, while more or less anything is possible the easy route is to drop in a Triumph 2.5 lump - with or without Lucas PI fuel injection.

For info/pictures check out www.tssc.org.uk/profiledir.asp?article=gt6

As a new PHer I thought the Triumph section was looking a bit quiet so revived this thread with a couple of pics of my GT6:

I just put a later pic on my profile, it dosn't look much different to before. The rear bumper is missing as it is being chromed. it does look quite shiney though even if the paint is rough.

Must be my monitor - looks greeny blue on mine. My TR6 was sapphire - it sort of still is, but a metallic match for the same colour. Purists seem to object " You know that's not an original colour don't you blah blah..."

Hello wavey new to this forum looking at buying a GT6 once my present cars sold, loved them for years and thought its about time i got one. Haven't got the garage space for a project so after an A1 car which has already been sorted, quite like the MKII prefer the shape to the later model. Any advice - pictures would be appreciated.

Have a look at the Triumph Sports Six Club website. They have buying guides and things on there with what to look out for and the differing models.
