5 years (already!) with my 911 997.2
Discussion
So, I've now lived with my 911 for almost 5 years, bought from a main dealer in Manchester, registered December 2008.
I decided not to extend the warranty after 2 years.
What has it cost? and what failures has it had?
Not a great deal to be honest. Ignoring MOT, Insurance and the tracker cost, this is the complete list...
Under body cover broke £215.78
Oil Senor replaced £278.97
AirCon regas at Porsche £100
Aircon regas again independent £41.99
2 sets of rear tires £926
Coil packs, plugs, engine seals replacement + sundries £1162.38
That's it!, in 5 years.
The coil packs were the most recent and is common on these cars apparently.
Still love it, and it still gives me that smile!
The only pains, and they're only minor is the carpet mat sometimes sticks to the clutch pedal, and water runs in if you have the window down while it's raining, or has rained.
And a flat battery requires a full procedure to even get the bonnet open.
Certainly no regrets

(actually Bryan35 is a bit inaccurate these days, should be Bryan51 - where did that go??)

You could try unplugging the MAF and see if the power delivery is better.
Did you mean to reply to this thread https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
That’s good going Bryan, it looks like you’re enjoyed very good value and more importantly fun motoring.
I was thinking about not extending my car’s warrantee next year, even more so as I’m tempted by an Iain Litchfield tune plus an Akrapovic exhaust system. My main concern is the worry that 991.2s could be prone to a fault with oil failing to drain from the turbos adequately, but I guess I’ll just have to take the hit if it happens. Maybe if it happens to enough cars, it’ll become a recall issue? (Not so sure!)
