The picture above basically shows how it works..

"EurID, the registry for the .EU domains, announces in their timetable, that the sunrise period for the .EU top level domain will start in September 2005 and will last 4 months."

"After this sunrise periode, the .eu top level domain will be opened and the first come first served method will be used to register domains under this new TLD."

I have been waiting awhile for .eu tld's to launch =/

I give it about a nanosecond before some wag registers uk.eu (or gb.eu), sits on it for (say) four months, then sells subdomains at vast cost to everyone that missed out on their chosen name in the sunrise periods... all a la uk.com wheeze.
