Just had the rears PSS's replace on the M240i and the valves appear to be a bit big and ugly compared to the originals. Out of place on the car. It does have TPMS but the originals were slim stemmed and these thins look more like a rusty 8mm socket.

I can't understand why your tyre fitter would remove £50 to £100 worth of TPMS valves??

Unless your TPMS is the older type that runs from the ABS sensor. Does your iDrive indicate the individual tyre pressures? If not, then any valve will do.

In any case, if you're not happy, go back and get them changed.

2016 car? The sensor valves shouldn’t need replacing yet. Not by a long way.

Unless you have the indirect system but you shouldn’t on that age of car. If it is indirect they will have just changed the snap in valves. Or replaced clamp ins with snap in maybe?

Having had a poke around the Weirdness has proven to be some odd dust caps so I won't be changing them. Thanks for the guidance.

If the caps are anything other than the BMW plastic ones, be careful.
Metal caps tend to corrode onto the stems, so if you go metal, always put a smear of anti-sieze or grease on the thread.

Getting some BMW grey Plastic ones. Only £1.45 so hopefully all will be OK. Put some standard black ones on for the moment.

The black ones are fine technically. The grey might look better.

Just don’t fit metal, greased up or not!

Agree, never use metal caps.

My winter wheels set (non OEM) came with a set of BMW oem TPMS valves which sound similar to your - much bigger in length and circumference than the values on the original set of wheels that came with the car (66 plate 340i) The other downside to the valves on my winter wheels is that on some airlines they don't create a tight seal and actually let all the air out when trying to top pressures up! I've resorted to keeping a pump in the car along with a screw on valve extender that so far gotten around the issue.
