Will question

Mum and Dad sat us down this weekend to tell us what was in the will and who was executors etc etc.

Pretty simple, anything left will be divided equally between the 4 siblings. Great, no issues there.

One question from me though. It also says that if one of the 4 siblings are dead, then that share will pass to their “issue”, ie children.

Now, I don’t have a children of my own, but my wife has 2 from her previous marriage, both grown up and left home ages ago.

So what would happen to my share if I died? Would it go to my next of kin, the wife, or just split between my 3 siblings instead?

I wouldn’t think it would go to the “step” kids, as I presume legally they are not mine.

"issue" are your bloodline - so your kids, or their kids if they pre-decease you.

Your step kids are your wife's Issue not yours.

If you wanted them included, your folks would need to name them (although, I assume you dont and they'd be on weak ground to contest the Will I'd expect)

My wife and I have just done all this, its very important how your mum and dad`s will is written. We have both been married before and have between us 3 sons,7 grandchildren and two gt grandchildren,and 2 of those sons are divorced, so yes it can get complicated. If say the plane went down and we were both lost the estate would go to the 3 sons,third each. If one of those sons had passed away their share would go to THEIR children.(not step kids)
Remember with a bit of luck my wife and I,and the OP`s mum and dad, may live for many more years. By that time sons may have remarried? more grandchildren? more complications. So its very important to get a good solicitor and get the will written correctly.Then have it updated when family situations change.

People over complicate things!

Your parents leave a share to you, or your kids if you are dead. That's it.

If they want your share (if you are dead) to go to your wife/your step-kids/milk man...then they need to say so.

Just spotted you have no issue of your own - so if you are dead, it goes to your siblings.
