No reverse lights

Hi. Just noticed that my reverse lights are not working on my X5 auto. I have checked the bulbs and they are fine. Has anyone else had this issue. Thanks

Have you checked the fuse for the reversing lights?

Could also be a failed reverse light switch.

Autos don’t have a reverse light switch. They use a signal from the gear position switch.

Thanks for your suggestions. I think I have got to the bottom of the problem. I changed my speedo cluster and I believe I installed a cluster from a manual car. Apparently the reverse lights get a signal from the cluster on an auto car hence why I am getting no reverse lights, indication on the cluster of what mode the car is in or the side mirror dipping when in reverse. I will get a new cluster from an auto and confirm this when fitted. Thanks again.

Is your car an E53? On the E46 you can use PA Soft to change an auto cluster to manual so it may work the other way round.

Hi. I have ordered PAsoft1.4 so I can change the clocks to auto. Is this something you’ve done yourself. If so could you give me a quick guide on how to do it. I also need to change the mileage, is this also possible to do this on PAsoft 1.4

Hi, I’ve converted an E46 from auto to manual and changed the cluster to manual. Afraid it was a while ago, I haven’t done manual to auto. I’d recommend having a play with the software and see how you get on.
