Received Paypal payment, fee not deducted, huh?

I just sold a bicycle for £1800. The buyer wanted to use Paypal for the protection, so I used one of those fee calculators and it told me he'd need to send £1860-something for me to receive £1800.

However, he's paid, and all of the cash has come to me with no fee deducted. I'm confused. Is it because he's accidentally done it as a "personal payment" or gift? Or could there be some other explanation? (Paypal doesn't seem to tell you what sort of payment it is.)

I don't want to rip him off and will happily refund the extra, but I don't want to run the risk of Paypal subsequently taking a fee off and me being out of pocket.

Be very careful here, it could end in tears...yours.

Don't let him collect it in person or send a courier......he could claim he's never had it. Well known scam.

There’s no protection on F&F transactions.

As a seller there’s no way I’d accept PayPal for that sort of value. Especially if it’s not an F&F payment and you’re posting the bike.
I’d count yourself lucky if he’s paid F&F and don’t make the same mistake again, you might be a decent bloke, but there’s plenty out there that aren’t.

Not posting, this was arranged in person and I have the money in my bank account. I'm sure it's not a scam, I know who the buyer is. I'm just confused as to why PayPal didn't deduct a fee.
