Its a very special material, and feckin expensive (high percentage of Nickel).

Now all main caps are 4 bolted and cross bolted.

Unlike the current setup where they're just 4 bolted and one main cap is only single bolted on each side!!! (for clearance issues apparentaly, a freakin joke)

Me too!!!!

You should see the heads internals, the polished ports and goldy bits!

Cant wait till I get the rods, pistons and crank!
Supposedly just round the corner!

Only the best will do. This company which designed these and CNC'd them from the billet also build components for F1, and the military I believe. They've done some other bits but because of secrecy agreement with engineers cant disclose certain things

Cant show pics of heads because there has been some extensive 'special' work done in them and again locked down by intellectual rights and all that

nice, they almost look like they wouldn't be up to the task... always see the 'heavy duty' stuff in some silvery color metal. the cross bolt hole looks like it comes mighty close to the outside hole, is this not going to be a problem? and how tiny is the crank journal, jees what is it like 2 inches, no wonder these engines spin so quick.

how much are you going to charge for tours of the workshop, cause damn, i'd love to drool all over the parts before they get put together, covered in oil, never to be seen again

The really misleading thing is that they look like just bits of metal and maybe even fragile by their colour. But when you go to grab one, thats when it hits you, feckin heavy! they are stronger than EN40B, more dense, exceptional corrosion and wear resistance, designed for big-bang impact, to absorb shock, wheren EN40B would normally fracture. To put it into perspective, its basically a space-age version of gunmetal.

It would be great if I could make every component out of this stuff, but I aint no millionaire and it would probably take a 1000hp to spool the rotating mass up to a 1000revs

Oh and their expansion rate is close to aluminium, perfect.

The crank journals are small on most flat cranks, I'm surprised you never knew that. Search for a pic of a ferrari crank on google.

i had no idea, the only motors i've really messed with (rebuilding and such) are american v8s. from the tiny 4.6 liters up to stonkin supercharged 8+ liters. and this whole independent rear-suspension, cornering thing is quite new to me as well! what is the density of that metal anyways?

i was wondering about the expansion rate. most ali blocks in america have steel endcaps and as such the bearing tolerances had to be a tad looser incase of binding so as not to spin one.

Spot on.
The standard caps are steel and do have a wider radius.

With your background in yank v8s, what are your thoughts on crossbeam rods in comparison to h-beams?

i've used both, (never heard them refered to as cross beam tho). with the crossbeam rods, if it was a hard use engine, we'd polish the rod to get rid of stress points. h-beams don't seem to need it. i like h-beam rods cause they have loads more surface area that can help them disapate heat better and pull some away from the piston, especially if oil squirters are used.

if you're concerned about the flat plane vibration issues, i have no experience there
