Split Roof - on/off
Discussion
Morning all split-roof owners,
I now have a split roof and so far it's gone well. Nice clean cut, straight down the middle, just got to finish the edges now.
I haven't fitted it to the car yet but a thought occurs. I read somewhere about the possibility of one panel falling into the car during fitting or removal and damaging the interior. Very annoying! I intend to fix an aluminium lip to the underside of one half to 'catch' the half when fitting.
Anyone else found this to be a problem? Simple solution is for the passenger to support both halves briefly before final fit-up. But without a passenger...?

As per the other thread;
In the S handbook it says the procedure for fitting the [split] rooh panels is to fit them vertically into the rear section. Then lift all the bits to meet the windscreen.
The opposite panel is supported by the central rebate / flange lip of the panel you hold.

Ah, that was my thought too. Good to hear this from another owner though. I'll need to check (carefully) that this is actually the case for mine. Lip fitting is usually done at around 15 to 20 degrees, so I'm hopeful they'll stay in place independently until the rear end is properly engaged - so to speak!
