A history of Le Mans?

Can anyone recommend a good book covering the history of Le Mans, from as far back as possible?

I’m kind of taken with the Quentin Spurring books, which, whilst I’m sure are excellent, at £30-50 per decade, would add up to a bit more than I’d like to spend!

'Le Mans 24 Hours' by Brian Laban if you cab find a copy at a reasonable price, published in 2001 though so not bang up to date

I’d 2nd this. Good book with plenty of detail but could do with new updated edition.

Ebay has that ^^^ book from 12 pounds up to 80+ pounds.
