Iv seen a few posts regarding this but I have a few questions:

Is this intrusively loud?

Any idea of cost if using an AM dealership and/or hours to fit?

Does it impact the timeless warranty?

Just wanted some real world opinions before I spoke to the dealer.

I like the sound of the car but for me personally it’s a little muted even with fuse 15 pulled and I believe this is predominantly due to the secondary cat’s.

Any other relevant advice is welcome.

I had this done to my 2011 N420 by AM Bristol last year - cost was approx £700 and done while I waited (less than 1 hour). You can get it cheaper by an exhaust fabricator but as it was under warranty I wanted to stick with AM parts. No issues with MOT and Bristol have done loads of them - speak to Kyle.

Not intrusively loud at all - just releases more noise when pressing on

I assume your car would be fuse 15 not 22?

You can also buy the switch from https://www.cccharger.co.uk/ if you want that flexibility

I've got the Larini secondary decats on mine, they came to about £550 fitted.

I have quicksilver decat pipes. About £600 fitted. Also have the cccharger switch.

Makes the 4.7 sound like my old 4.3 did 😎

I have thought about secondary cat delete with an x pipe, but have not been able to find any sound clips of this combo.

Sorry for the slight thready hijack but am I right in thinking for an early 4.7 (MY10) that doesn't have the secondary cats my options are basically same as for a 4.3? i.e. insanely loud (likely too loud) if I go decats, sensible option is therefore 200 cell cats?

Thanks - collected the car yesterday and keen to just get a bit more sound out (have already fitted the switch!)

Yes you need 200 cell cats to stay MOT legal and insured on a 4.3 or early 4.7

I've had this combination fitted by the guys over at CSK Race Exhausts; I have a video of the sound if that helps? Would just need to figure out how to share it. PM / email?

I’d also like to see a vid with the X-pipe... is there any options that Aston Martin offer for this directly? Or is the X-Pipe aftermarket only?

I went for the sec cat delete and a genuine sports silencer on my 2012 V8 using parts below

De cat pipes HG3Y 5E211 AA and HG3Y 5E212 AA

Sport rear silencer, part number BG33 5230 AC.

About £3300 fitted

Also have the cc charger remote

Sounds fantastic

Found a couple. Leaning towards the Fabspeed for no other reason than their local.

I removed the secondary cats on my 2013 Vantage because it sounded rather tame compared to my previous 2007 4.3. I also installed a valve switch.

It now sounds better than before though in my opinion not as good as the previous 4.3 with Fuse 22 pulled. Low down it sounds great, it is very throaty but higher in the Rev range it’s louder than the 4.3 and a bit angry and metallic in tone.

I don’t know whether changing the back box to a sports model would improve the tone, it’s so subjective.

So I received this reply from an Aston Martin Service Department for a 2015 Vantage:

I am sorry but to remove the 2nd Cats is not something that we would carry out here. If they are removed it will cause the Engine Management light to keep flagging up.

The company that have given you the quote will also include re-mapping of the car which is also something we would not do. If you do go ahead and have the 2nd cats removed please make the dealership aware that the car has been re-mapped when it goes in for any repairs (this is any dealership) as the new mapping will be wiped out if they have to carry out software updates on your car for any reason.

Iv sent part numbers as detailed in this thread to see what they come back with.

Worst case i’ll take a drive to Bristol and make a day of it 👌🏽

Removal of secondary cats hasn't caused my engine management light to come on. Also, no issues with passing MOT. Their point about software updates wiping the remap seems valid though!

The secondary cats don't have O2 sensors. There are tons of posts from guys removing the secondary cats and I have never heard this one. I think your service man is wrong. I had one tell me the same if I removed fuse 22, and that's not true either.

In fact I believe some dealers will remove these cats for you?

Hope others will chime in..

Had clarification from the service department with the parts numbers and all seems fine.

Just need to get some quotes from other dealers to see if I can get the price down currently being quoted around £400 for parts and the same for Labour which seems a bit much for an hours labour...
