I'm driving to Tuscany and back in August in either my DB9 Volante or my Ferrari Mondial t.

I know that the Ferrari (even a Mondial) will get a great reception from the locals. But would I be missing out on this element if I take the Aston?

Anyone done this?

They appreciate ALL nice cars...smile

You could probably forget to lock the doors and have no bother in some places.

I saw a Stag and a Merc SL left unattended in Lucca on a very hot day 2 weeks ago with their roofs left wide open.

I enjoyed the attention I got from 2 young women when I stepped out of my V8V and walked around to the other side to collect my toll booth ticket

Truth is they were probably confused that I was sitting on the wrong side of the car hehe

I enjoyed the attention of two young police officers, who stopped me when I was motoring in my Aston ,quite sedately, near Modena! They used a tablet to confirm ownership, tax and insurance via the DVLA website.

I live in Milan, they'll love it.

Here, it's even more exotic, as Ferrari, Maserati and especially Porsche are more common.

They are not very used with the marque.

A couple days back I heard two guys saying between them "is that a Lotus?". Another day I overtook a slow Kia whatever then at the stop light I could see the girl driving it in my rear view mirror distinctively say ASTON MARTIN to her passengers. biggrin

A few years ago now but we drove over the Alps from Switzerland down to Lake Garda and on to Verona. All the Italians loved the DB9 and were very animated on both the motorways and side roads showing their appreciation.

Fortunately the Aston Martin was substituted for the actual descent and destruction.

Some metal bashing, a new grille and headlights then hope no one notices, that the right hand drive Aston, sudenly became a left hand drive Aston Martin imposter.

Not only LHD but the bonnet opens the wrong way at the windscreen rather than at the front nerd
