Formula Red S2000 GT

Only knowledge is the engine and gearbox in a Westfield I built , albeit a non FBW throttle. Great engine . Changed the gearbox oil for Valvoline and made it amazingly slicker . Listen for chain tensioner, make sure tappets are set and lots of lovely fresh oil and it will look after itself from then on. Great engine and box . Enjoy your new car, does look amazing in red.
I had a pre-facelift a while ago. Brake wise, new OEM discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads, braided lines and new fluid will be enough to make it stand on it's nose.
Other than that, a K&N replacement OEM cone in the air box and then just remove the lid for extra induction noise. I bought a HKS kit for mine and never even fitted it, the option to just put the lid back on if you want it to be quiet again is too much of an easy option to get rid of. And possibly even look at changing the Teins for some OEM shocks and Eibach springs us a decent geo setup. It'll ride just as well as standard but sit nicer than the OEM springs do. Look at getting the suspension bushes replaced if they haven't been done already also, fresh bushes make it feel like a brand new car again.
If you plan to keep it long term try and get a second hand Mugen exhaust and add even just a cheap decat pipe from Japspeed with it, perfect level of volume and sound without being boomy in the car like most aftermarket exhaust. And the decat is an easy change for MOT time, sits under the car easily accessible and its 6 or 8 bolts to get it out. All of 15 minutes on a ramp, bit longer with a Jack for obvious reasons.
I miss mine a lot, possibly even more than my Impreza.

Thanks for the responses guys, glad it’s PH approved!
It already has the K&N intake upgrade and previously mentioned Tein adjustable suspension setup. Exhaust mod and brakes to come.
Will give it a good clean and get some more photos uploaded.. Might even make a wee build thread if I eventually decide to supercharge it!

Looks like my mates old car if so it's a cracker. Did you add the Tein suspension and hard top?
It may well be, if he's from the NE of Scotland.. Nope, this is how I got the car (I can take no credit in the quality or modifications, I just spotted it and had to have it).Best advice is get the roof down
As above standard brakes should be fine if in good health, check for sticky pistons though...particularly on the rear. I had mine refurbished last year after suffering from intermittent sticking and they have been flawless since.
Enjoy the silly9k limit!

I was after one bit of advice that I forgot to mention.. Seats. That's the one slight downfall of the wee beauty. If I were to replace them with a Corbeau/Recaro type reclining sports seat, what models have people fitted in the past?
Had the hard top off at the weekend, that 9k limiter gets addictive in the open air!

Get an alignment done by someone who knows what they are doing.
It can be night and day handling wise.
Watch out for seized bolts. The S2000 is renowned for this probem. The only answer sometimes is to cut suspension arms off and replace.
Nice looking car. I miss mine.
+1 The alignment on these can be fully adjusted so it's important to get it right. Once that's done, keep it on OEM Bridgestones and enjoy It can be night and day handling wise.

IMHO I know Tein are quality items but I would have kept the car completely stock and so please don't change the exhaust. They're a great car as standard. If you really need more noise, there is a modification you can do (check out the S2000 forums) but I don't know how good/bad it is.

With regard to the seats. There is a modification you can do to lower the height of the seats. I think it involves replacing the seat rail and I seem to recall they are readily available. I didn't do mine because I thought it was low enough for me (I'm just under 6ft) Had the hard top off at the weekend, that 9k limiter gets addictive in the open air!

Thanks for this, will look in to it if I replace the standard seats. The issue I have is the general condition rather than the position but the tip is kindly noted.
Loved mine, shouldn't have sold it on as quickly as I did.. but I could say that for a few previous cars!!

Geo bolts are notorious for seizing, so check they're in good order and well greased. If not then it's worth paying a specialist to get them fixed so that the car can be set up to handle the way it was intended.
The exhaust mod to the standard exhaust is well worth doing, the link below was my car with the mod carried out but the rest of the system was still standard, including the cat.

...most importantly, drop the roof at every opportunity and enjoy it.

I've looked into changing my seats, just for a bit more support and less sliding around...the main challenge is how small the cabin is and how wide most after market seats are. A common choice are the Buddy Club P1s...the standard seats are made my Recaro though, so I'm looking at maybe a retrim with alcantara centres.Edited by trails on Friday 21st June 08:53
