The drift-less mobile has a dunt on the door from a stray bollard. Thankfully just low impact door damage, not on the sill which would have written it off but decided to just fix it myself, or so I thought.
As the doors are aluminium I was told by several body shops it would be better to find a car of the same year and paint code and put a door on and it would look good as new. Since replacement doors are £750 and painting and feathering would be at least another £200. So luckily I find a door the same year and paint code, and same colour door card and switches. the rear door has manual window winder and appears to have one bar and a connector block in a cover, simple then.
I understand fitting a door is fairly straight forward with only two bolts top and bottom of each hinge but the skill is getting it aligned correctly and the shut lines looking perfect.
How long does it realistically take and how much should I be paying. I've been to a few bodyshops and prices seem to be all over the show.
One came in at £240. Another at £500 and another at a stupid £1400.

And if you're really really lucky it might be the same shade. It may well be the same year & paint code but if it's a different paint batch to that which was in use when your car was built then you might be disappointed.
