I have had a few Audis in my time A3 Black Edition, A6 Avant black edition, and A4 Black Edition!

now seriously considering an A7 and the bigger engine ( all my others have been 2.0), going to be used for business and motorway journeys..
may do a tune for bit more power , but better MPG mainly..
no idea on the A7 or even been in one, do like the looks of ones about 2015 onwards, prefer to the newer ones.. was going to go 5 Series or 4 series, but something about the looks of this thing..

what's you experiences / thoughts on it / running it

I like them and early-life depreciation means you get a ton of car for the money. Nicer looking and more practical than an A6 saloon.

Which model/s are you considering?

The tech is fairly dated on them inside, one of my best friends has an RS7 on a 66 (I think, it's private) plate and the interior feels a bit low rent compared to my RRS and even the A4 pool car (18 plate) I used the other day.

The newer models are out of my range unfortunately so I'm looking at the Black Edition Model.. Hopefully the 245 or 276hp versions..
Ones on potential shortlist are Dolphin grey, white, black, silver... 21" 5 spoke wheels etc.. Other specs vary quite a bit.. 2014/ 2015/ 2016 ..
It's to use for work and motorway travel... Been looking at 4 series 430s as well, seem some absolute beauts , but I'm drawn to the look of this model A7 still

What's your budget? If you don't need folding seats, you can consider A8 Black Edition, they are available from 66 plate onwards. Prices starting at £25K.

I'm trying to stick to a budget as its company contribution I'm topping up...
So max about £22k but hoping to deal, as they don't seem to be shifting off sale really quickly

I did see a couple of A8s but not as drawn on looks as the A7 think the 7 tops on looks

Go for a facelift quattro (15MY on) with technology pack; the basic navigation without it looks really cheap and dated.

Standard spec on a Black Edition isn't bad so tech pack is all that's really 'essential'. Parking (cameras) and assistance (adaptive cruise) packs nice too.

BiTDIs very quick but 272 isn't a slouch either. Either will return north of 40MPG on a run.

All S-Tronic cars require gear oil changes at 40k.

Thanks for that DR G ...
The specs are a real roulette! Big mixture but I fear I will have to compromise on some bits... Getting a nice colour and desired spec is going to be a challenge... Agree on 2015 onwards, dynamic rear indicators and the square exhaust look much better than previous version, do like the 5 spoke wheels from that year too.. Is the tech pack give you a bigger Nav screen?

Yep the BiTDI is 320bhp.

(A6 272 owner :-))

And Tech pack gives you bigger screen and hard drive nav (better resolution and not so stupid sayings like "keep right" at some motorway junctions). If you are questioning the description on cars you're looking at, the photos can confirm for you especially if the MMI is off - touch pad is better nav, radio preset buttons in same place is SD card nav.

If you've got your eyes on something and have any questions on spec/history I'm quite happy to feed it in to erwin (Audi back end) and bounce details back to you.

Can send you a copy of the original brochure too if it will help your search.

Hi, that's really kind thankyou so much
I had seen a local car that was Dolphin grey, lovely colour, and drove really well... But after being on this thread, I didn't realise how different a lot of the spec bits can be, the update tech pack for example! The BMW sat nav I thought looked far better than my A6 and I wasn't aware of the revised version.. Tech pack levels that out.

I'm getting video sent from main dealer on a silver one that has a nice spec.. I'm thinking of potentially putting quite a cheeky offer in as not sure these are really selling really quickly, so for quick month end sale it might work... Compromise is colour on this one
really looking at my budget, which is already sneaking up by a the day.. And trying to be strict at about £21k ... They are around, but spec combos are a bit of a lottery..

If you're happy to get a diesel and performance is any priority I would go for the BiTDI. Its a big heavy mutha, but can beat 95% of cars at the lights and you can overtake with just a tiny stretch of road to play with. And then will do 45mpg on motorway runs. I've had an A6 BiTDI for three years and still smile when giving it the heavy shoe.

indeed :-) I've been looking for the car with everything, but not to be .. but currently trying to do a deal on a silver one with 'only' 276hp lol!! but sure it will still go, and I may also get it re mapped locally which will give extra MPG and I think get it to around 300hp … but I am still keeping my eyes peeled just in case..

Good stuff, hope you got the spec you wanted.

I use a broker that a friend had previously recommended to me. I don't like using the usual comparison sites etc and don't mind potentially paying a little bit more when you consider the extra service you get from a broker when you get into problems with renewals etc.

Yes not 100% but needed to compromise somewhere with price area.. but got a cracking deal as well in the end after some negotiation..
didn't get the Daytona grey, or BiTDI … but got a silver 272hp one with tech pack, folding mirrors, dynamic indicators etc etc..
but on a 3 year PCP , and got a 2 year main dealer warranty , 2 years free servicing, 2 year MOT pass guarantee , full tank of fuel and all that..so all good..

I never knew there were car insurance brokers..
