My new track bike has just arrived (CBR400RR) which has an Ohlins rear shock and - 44 spring which is apparently 120N. In the box of spares there is also a K Tech spring which is 100N.

I have done some googling but can't find any definitive information on what sort of rider weights these would suit. There were some links on old forum posts to suspension websites, but all were now dead unfortunately.

First shakedown is Cadwell on Tuesday!

Go on the racetech website. They have a handy calculator which I’ve found to be spot on with a little bit of room for manoeuvre each way.

Track bikes want a stiffer spring generally but it also depends on the suspension systems linkage ratio, rate of rise etc as well as your weight and (be honest here) actual pace on track.

Long story short...

Suck it and see but do the basics first.... static and dynamic sag

You're in Hertfordshire so give Harris Performance in Hertford a call, they sell and service Ohlins so they'll have the answer.

I concur, RaceTech webpage provides very useful info, used it myself (and also have RaceTech fork components in my CBR600F4i)

Thanks for the info guys, I will have a look on the Racetech website and I actually live just over a mile away from Harris Performance so might pop in their one day for a chat.
