What are the implications of buying a EURO5 diesel?

I'm about to spend £9,500 on one which for some might not be much but it's still a fair amount of cash for me.
Just worried about what I'm reading about the future of these EURO5 cars- are they worth the gamble??

As long as you don’t drive into central London now or within the Greater London area from 2011, you’ll be fine although you’re forever hearing stories about this or that city thinking about implementing a similar scheme.

I’ve got a 2014 euro 5 and do drive into London roughly once a week but I’ll probably just pay the daily charge as it’s cheaper than replacing a perfectly useable car with plenty of life. What will happen to values is another unknown but they’ll always be a place for diesel and if it’s your intention to keep for a long time then depreciation is of a lesser concern.

Got a Euro 5 van don't live in London or I tend to drive there so no problem. There are some cities that are considering congestion charges but public outcry, whoever introduces it will lose the next local election and the fact that towns can't implement it for fear of causing more damage to the local economy will hold it back.

Glasgow is going LEZ soon which will match London’s ULEZ. When it happens I'll just avoid the city and shop elsewhere, for all the times I actually need to go in anyway. Will be interesting to see how it impacts the city's economy.

There is absolutely nothing yet at my price point in petrol.

Most people bought diesel 5+ years ago and now the government want me to get into debt so I don't buy an older diesel!
