Something that aligns with the OP title:
A few weeks ago, we went for a long weekend in Madeira, flying from Birmingham. Taking off directly South, a little while later - looking out of my window - I noticed the Isle of Wight below. Effectively, that was Birmingham to Southampton in less than 30 minutes, which was less time than Telford to B'ham (30-odd miles) airport parking!

I am listening to the French GP qualifying on the radio, and to give my eyes something to do, skimming through a few sites on the Internet. I thought I would Google the most popular sports in the world.
Motorsport is not listed in the top ten, whatever list you care to turn to. Things like table tennis and hockey (grass not ice) are in the top ten, but no car or bike racing.
I am amazed that all these years I sort of assumed that F1 was one of the most followed sports globally, I don't know why. It seems I was very wrong.

We had a woman start work at my old place who couldn’t go a whole conversation without mentioning she and her wife were vegan. She left after about 6 months, I asked my normally very PC female boss what happened. She replied ‘I think she’d told everyone so has gone to start elsewhere’
