Drove back from Luxembourg on 10th June when the M25 was like a lake. Got the car out today and lots of smoke and bits of rubber in the engine bay, the tensioner pulley has seized, no doubt rusted solid.

I think this belt only drives the aircon pulley, all other pumps are chain driven, so I can just cut the belt off for the time being and do without a/c.

Just thought I’d check with the experts before proceeding with this plan smile

Yes, it just drives the air-con compreesor, nothing else.

Your plan seems OK to me.

Thanks for the confirmation. The belt is intact but a new one would be a good idea.

Could probably free up the pulley but the bearings are likely shot. Cheers.

Sounds like a good result to me.

I take it you will use the existing pulley bracket, hope the old pulley seperates easy and not "heat welded!"

Don’t know yet and stag do in Majorca this weekend (40c heatwave notwithstanding) but parts should have arrived after that so will see, thanks again smile

Edit: I only bought the pulley so plan to reuse the bracket. I have a big hammer so hopefully all will be ok.
